In the Spirit of the Gracious and Compassionate
Creator of the Heavens and the Earth
In the United States of America, every day is a Mass Shooting Day. It is no longer news. It is the new normal.
Just as the daily news reports counted the days of the Iran Hostage Crisis, so should we count the days of mass shootings — until we put an end to it. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
- Over fifty years ago, psychologists did a study in which they compared the helpfulness of psychiatrists, psychologists, and friends for troubled people. Their study showed that seeing a psychiatrist usually makes things worse, that seeing a psychologist usually was no help, but that talking with friends is helpful. We need hours and hours of face-to-face, sincere and sensitive conversation with friends. Our societal crisis — I would say catastrophe — of mental disorder needs to be dealt with as an emergency, and we all need to be involved.
- If your church, mosque, temple, tabernacle, or synagogue is not a house of compassion, get the hell out.
- Why is gun control controversial?
Unless I hear otherwise, I assume that this day and every day is a Mass Shooting Day.
I started the count Saturday, June 17, 2017. Today is day 0003. Hopefully, we will put an end to this scourge before I run out of numbers.
Mass Shooting Day 0003.
